Our Boxing workout program mixes techniques from 4 main boxing styles to help you get an amazing workout that burns massive calories all while learning self defense:

Olympic Boxing: This is another term for amateur boxing and is the sport that is allowed in the Olympics. Many of the top boxers today have been amateur boxer and fought in the Olympics before becoming professional fighters. I take many of the similar workouts that Olympic coaches use to get the fighters ready for a match and incorporate the workouts to help you shed massive weight.

Western Boxing: Boxing has its history carved in the times that date back to the 688 B.C. years when the ancient Greeks added it as a sport in the Olympic Games. It has taken on many changes since then with rules being added by Western Boxing to give it a more favorable sport to watch. This is a great martial art added to the program because boxing is very cardio based and requires you to use a lot of calories to keep your body in motion.

Mexican Style Boxing: Mexico has produced more champion boxers than any other country. It is considered a national sport and produces amateur and world champions every year. With the ability to produce the most world champions it would be hard to ignore the fitness aspects of what they can help us with. So, I take many of their workouts and inter twine them into my Boxing Fitness Program to give you a great workout while sculpting your body.

Bare Knuckle Boxing or English Boxing: Bare-knuckle boxing (also known as bare-knuckle, prizefighting, or fisticuffs) is the original form of boxing, closely related to ancient combat sports. It involves two individuals fighting without any gloves or other form of padding on their hands. You aren’t going to be required to have to use this to fight other in class, it is simply another “style” that has been introduced into my boxing program to give you an amazing workout and help you gain self defense skills.

IMPORTANT: You won’t have to ever fight in the ring or be hit by other students in class. There are no fighting requirements to be part of this program!

Boxing Fitness Benefits:

Boxing is a grueling workout and demanding cardiovascular challenge on your body. Even though many consider this to be a brutal sport, we do not require you to get into the ring with anyone or do any kind of sparring. Our program is based on actual boxing give you real boxing skills taught by real boxing martial artists; however, our focus is more on the fitness benefits of losing weight, sculpting and building muscle, and getting you into great shape. In our uniquely designed program you are going to be getting a FULL-BODY WORKOUT that will mix cardio and strength training along with high-intensity anaerobic exercise.

To help you get the best fitness benefits from our boxing program, we round out our program using:

  • Heavy Bag Workouts: Having to hit the heavy bag consistently for a 2-3 minute round or in a high-intensity round requires much stamina and muscle strength. This kind of challenge on your body pushes your heart rate and kicks in the “master hormone” which helps you burn fat off your body.
  • Jumping Rope: Jumping rope isn’t just a good warm up, but a very anaerobic and aerobic challenge that builds your heart muscle and increases your endurance. While increasing your anaerobic and aerobic fitness your body burns calories and tones your muscles.
  • Shadow Boxing: This is a great way to learn foot work and get your body moving in various directions to help with coordination, balance, and stamina. If you don’t have this now, don’t worry! You will get better the more you train and practice. Shadow boxing is non-contact practice where you learn to improve your boxing form to reduce injury and increase reaction time.
  • Speed Bags, Timing Bags, and Hand Mitt Training: All come with various different degrees of fitness challenges. All of these types of workouts compliment the heavy bag and shadow boxing to help improve your coordination, reaction time, balance, and fitness level. You will continue to burn calories throughout the class while doing different stations to keep your heart rate up and your fat burning potential going for many hours after your workout.

“I have always been fascinated by boxing; even as a little boy, I used to watch boxing matches on television, and I would tell myself that I would learn how to be just like those trained boxers someday. I’m not very athletic or coordinated; can I still learn Boxing?

It doesn’t matter how athletic or coordinated you are, anyone can learn how to box. Like anything else physical, it takes practice to learn how to be coordinated and to become athletic. We help you learn in an easy environment, and are super patient to help you through ALL the training! Don’t worry, after a few sessions you will be amazed at what you can do.

Will I get injured?

I place a huge amount of emphasis on doing the techniques correctly so students don’t get injured. I want you to have the best experience while learning and developing great skills, so the classes are designed for progression of fitness so you don’t get injured. Majority of injuries come from lack of proper technique or form, and being forced to do exercises before the student is properly prepared for it. We walk you through each step, so you can feel confident that you won’t get injured and that you will be able to train for a very long time. Beginner can feel confident they will learn each step. I have been doing this a long time and rarely see injuries occur during the classes. It is 100% safe to train in our school.

Am I too old to train?

You are absolutely NOT too old to train in boxing. I have students from all ages training and many who are over 50 in my program loving everything they are learning. If you have the determination and the right attitude, then you will get the best training ever.

Can a woman do Boxing?

I hear this often from ladies who would like to train, but are worried that it is for men only. This is totally FALSE! Women can do this and actually perform BETTER than men. I have been teaching men and women for over 20 years and find that women tend to be better at picking this up and learn much faster for reason I don’t know. It is just my experience. If you are determined and come with an attitude to learn and have fun, then you will get a lot out of your training and have a great time. The classes are very welcoming and everyone helps each other learn. The instructors are patient and can help you get through any of the techniques.

I don’t know anything about Boxing, do I need previous training?

If you are a complete beginner to boxing, then you have NOTHING to worry about. Our program is designed to meeting the needs of a beginner student and walks you step-by-step through a progression that will give you A LOT of systematic knowledge of how to use your new skills for fitness and in a self defense situation. You don’t have to have previous training to do Boxing at our school.
